Robert Samut is the founder and principal facilitator at Elevista Interactive Learning. He is also a partner in the Insurance & Health team at Barry.Nilsson and is listed in the 2018 edition of Best Lawyers for Insurance.
‘The concept behind Elevista came after running a course on the Insurance Contracts Act with Samantha Traves from the Queensland University of Technology in association with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). The course was well received, and I could see there was a gap in the market for high-quality, truly interactive training.’
At Barry.Nilsson., Rob specialises in medical negligence and health, professional indemnity, public liability, product liability, commercial claims and insurance contract advice. His clients include insureds, self-insureds, underwriters and brokers. Rob is highly regarded within the industry for his strategic approach to matters, as well as his ability to apply lateral thinking to develop solutions for complex legal problems.
Rob developed and delivered Australia’s first ‘Advanced Personal Injuries Claims Management’ course in partnership with ANZIIF. He presented for ANZIIF’s ‘Insurance Law Update’ series, which included his highly regarded and very entertaining presentation on Insurance Contracts in a Digital Age.
Rob is a regular commentator and presenter on insurance and risk issues, both for and outside of Elevista. Most recently, he has:
- presented as a keynote speaker at the 2016 ANZIIF Conference
- moderated at the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) Sir Ninian Stephen Masterclass 2016
- participated in the Great Debate at the AILA National Conference 2015.
‘I think the key to Elevista’s success has been our determination to develop extremely high-quality content and to ensure it’s delivered in a digestible way. We’ve also put a great deal of effort into finding the right facilitators for Elevista, and I’m pleased that the interactive and solutions-based learning model we’ve developed has been embraced by the entire team. At the same time, we’ve all retained our personal presentation styles, which I think is important. The feedback from our workshops, in-house training sessions and webinars is consistently excellent. This indicates that we’re achieving our main objective – to deliver high-quality training to insurance, broking and risk management professionals across Australia and New Zealand.’
