‘I have over 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry including ten years as an insurance lawyer. I’ve worked in-house as a risk management consultant for Flight Centre Limited and as a manager for the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) in the area of injury technical and program support. My role at ICBC focused on developing strategies to manage legal claims and, from that experience, I learned that even small changes can have a significant effect on the bottom line.’
At Barry.Nilsson., Hannah acts for insurers and self-insureds in a wide variety of public and product liability claims, including property and injury claims, including for construction companies and trade contractors, residential and commercial occupiers and transport providers.
‘I joined the team of facilitators at Elevista because I enjoy teaching and collaborative learning environments. Having worked in-house, I understand how important it is for insurance, broking and risk management professionals who are dealing with complex legal issues on a daily basis to have access to high-quality training.’
As a lawyer who is also interested in education and learning, Hannah has proved to be a valuable addition to the team of facilitators at Elevista. She is particularly adept at using the solutions-based model of teaching that sets Elevista apart. In workshops, Hannah is both approachable and relatable, which is something participants appreciate. Her in-house background means she has a good understanding of the realities of working as an insurance professional and plenty of practical examples to share with her audience.
‘I believe that participants truly benefit from the quality of our training. We ensure that the information we provide is digestible and practical. Using an interactive format for running the sessions works well. Basically, participants not only learn the law that relates to a particular area but also how to apply it in an effective way. I use plain language to explain legal concepts, which Barry.Nilsson.’s clients and the participants at Elevista workshops want and respond to’.
